Slaughter House Five (Blog 3) Madison Boynton
Since I had already covered the Life and Times over the author it opened the spot of me being the cool connector. Just like in "The Lottery" I felt as I could really connect these chapters to the Holocaust. I am really invested in the history of the Holocaust so it is easy for my mind to venture off and think about that as I am reading some of the chapters in this book. I wasn't sure if it would be a clear connection so I talked it over with my group and they seemed to really agree with me. I relate this to that because the train ends at a prison camp and they are all headed to take a mass shower. Just like in the Holocaust when the Jews were forced to take showers together, what they could wear, when and what they were to eat. These events from the Holocaust and the ideas in chapter 4 just seemed way too closely related.
Hi Madison,
ReplyDeleteI think you make some great connections here. It would be worth considering this scene on the train with connections you are making to Holocaust victims. For instance, how might the treatment of both the soldiers and victims trouble concepts of humanity in times of war?
